Alan Belcher sees himself on the cusp of competing for a shot at UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva. Belcher has been pushing for a meeting with “The Spider,” but it would appear that “The Talent” needs to secure at least another top-notch win first before challenging for the belt.
While an official tilt hasn’t been revealed for Belcher’s next fight it at least appears he’s agreed to a bout in the coming months.
“My next fight will be the biggest of my career,” Belcher wrote. “I may be taking a trip down south, very south.”
Belcher recently went on record expressing interest in being a possible opponent for Vitor Belfort, who himself is returning from a hand injury. The notion of fighting “down south,” would seem to place Belcher on the UFC 153 card in October from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, providing Belfort the opportunity to fight in his native country once again if the match-up is indeed made.
Belcher has earned stoppage victories in each of his last four fights including a recent TKO finish of Rousimar Palhares.
