Entering UFC 146 welterweight Dan Hardy hadn’t tasted victory in more than two years, dropping four straight scraps and teetering on the brink of release as a result. As such, “The Outlaw” could not have picked a better time to blast an opponent into unconsciousness than last night as he did to Duane Ludwig in their undercard outing. The effort saved Hardy’s job and also earned him an extra $70,000 after receiving a Knockout of the Night nod.
Hardy Excited to Prove He is a “Whole New Fighter” at UFC 146
Joining Hardy in the honor was Roy Nelson who also got a Knockout of the Night award for his deboning of Dave Herman. He too received $70,000 for the distinction.
Submission of the Night shared a similar fate with both Paul Sass and Stefan Struve being named, each man also receiving $70,000 as a result.
Interestingly enough no Fight of the Night was announced.
