Michael Bisping targeting September for return to the ring

UFC middleweight Michael Bisping is only a week removed from surgery on an injured knee but doesn’t appear to be interested in waiting any longer than necessary before making his way back inside the Octagon. Bisping, who was forced to pull out of a fight with Tim Boetsch at UFC 149, updated fans on his condition during a recent episode of Inside MMA where he offered an optimistic timetable for his return to action.

“I’ve never had surgery before so I’ve never been through this, but as fast as possible,” replied Bisping when asked about how long he wanted to wait before seeking a scrap. “I’m gonna give it another week and then I’ll call the UFC and then maybe we can start talking about a fight. But as of right now training isn’t even an option.”

Though Bisping remained noncommittal about a specific date, he did reveal doctors had told him the recovery would only take 3-4 weeks and as such he was shooting for September.

“That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t know if I’m being too optimistic though,” added Bisping.

Check out the complete interview with Bisping below where he also offers up an assessment on how he sees Chael Sonnen-Anderson Silva II going:
