Fabricio Werdum is set to take on Mike Russow in a key heavyweight clash at UFC 147 on Saturday, June 23rd. Werdum (15-5-1) returned to the UFC with a unanimous decision win over the tough Roy Nelson at UFC 143 in February. He has won four of his past five bouts which includes wins over Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio Silva while competing in Strikeforce.
Russow enters the bout riding an 11 fight winning streak including his last four victories inside the Octagon. To Werdum this bout is another step to the top of the heavyweight division as he maintains an eye on a potential rematch with champion Junior dos Santos. Werdum suffered a first round knockout to Dos Santos at UFC 90 in June 2008.
UFC 147 takes place from the Mineirinho Gymnasium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Werdum gets the opportunity to put on a show in front of his countrymen in what he expects will be a great fight.
