Countless opinions have surfaced since news broke a few weeks back that UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones had been arrested for driving under the influence. As might be expected, many of Jones’ fellow fighters had thoughts on the matter as well though few have shared them publicly.
However, a handful of his UFC peers were recently asked to offer up an assessment on the situation and did so with the answers ranging from concern to shock to compassion. Among the group of competitors surveyed were Frank Mir, Junior dos Santos, Jason Miller, Chad Mendes, and Cain Velasquez.
“We all fall down, but the point is we get back up and you march forward and you acknowledge what you did. We’re not perfect,” explained Mir in the conversation with UFC Central. “As long as there is humility and an aspiration to be a better person, and to learn from your mistakes, that’s what people want to see.”
“I want to meet the person who has never screwed up,” Mir concluded.
