Fedor Emelianenko retires from MMA on a high note with knockout of Pedro Rizzo

One of the greatest fighters in the history of Mixed Martial Arts has decided to call it a career barring some sort of unforeseen circumstance, as Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko announced he would be walking away from the sport in order to spend time with his family after a storied career inside the ring. Emelianenko’s revealed his plan earlier today at a post-event press conference attached to his headlining tilt with Pedro Rizzo at M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Rizzo.

Emelianenko dominated Rizzo in their meeting, stopping the seasoned scrapper with strikes less than 90 seconds into their bout. The finish came after “The Last Emperor” landed one of his trademark overhand rights and then sealed the deal with a few shots from above on the downed Rizzo.
