"Mayhem" Miller released by the UFC, says he’s retiring

Middleweight Jason Miller has decided to follow the same path as fighters like BJ Penn and Nick Diaz, retiring from MMA after suffering a crucial loss despite still being young enough to continue competing at a relatively high level. “Mayhem” was outpointed by CB Dollaway this past Saturday night at UFC 146 after making numerous comments about how he’d breeze through the former Ultimate Fighter finalist.

Prior to announcing his retirement Miller was cut by the UFC following the lackluster showing, officially ending his run in the organization despite having been a TUF coach late last year.

Miller revealed his retirement today on The MMA Hour where he also denied knowledge of having been released. As far as his future plans, the 31-year old mentioned an interest in color commentary and referred to a line from the film Pulp Fiction in terms of his plan to “walk the Earth, meet people, get into adventures…like Caine from Kung Fu.”

Whether or not his decision to call it quits sticks considering Miller’s age, if he is indeed done with MMA, the 23-9 fan-favorite racked up 19 finishes in his decade-plus career including notable wins over Denis Kang, Robbie Lawler, and Tim Kennedy.
