Former middleweight title-contender Patrick Cote is poised for a return to the UFC after winning four straight outside the organization. The 17-7 French-Canadian has been booked for a bout against Cung Le at UFC 148 who found himself without an opponent after an injury to Vitor Belfort forced Rich Franklin to serve as a replacement against Wanderlei Silva.
The UFC has confirmed the July 7 meeting between Cote-Le on their website.
Cote has won eight of his outings via strike-based stoppage including an opening round knockout in his last scrap. The match-up with Le is the first for Cote inside the Octagon since a moderately successful run a few years back including a five-fight winning streak and crack at Anderson Silva’s championship.

Le, a former Strikeforce title-holder, is also a stand-up specialist with all seven of his in-ring successes involving a TKO finish.
UFC 148 is headlined by Silva defending his belt against rival Chael Sonnen with other pairings on the card such as Tito Ortiz-Forrest Griffin and Urijah Faber-Renan Barao.
