As expected, light heavyweight Phil Davis (Pictured) will now meet Wagner Prado at “UFC on FOX: Shogun vs. Vera.” Mr. Wonderful was initially slotted to fight Chad Griggs in the August 4th event, but the former Strikeforce slugger had to bow out with an undisclosed injury.
After posting an unblemished record through his first nine professional fights, Davis looks to bounce back from a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to Rashad Evans. The 27-year-old was rebounding from a knee injury that kept him on the pine for eight months prior to January’s outing.
Prado is prefect through his first seven pro bouts, with five of his wins coming within the opening round. Six of the light heavyweight’s victories were notched via some form of knockout.
The 205-pound scrap is expected to appear in the card’s prelims, which will air live on FUEL TV.
FOX will broadcast the featured fights at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
Staples Center in Los Angeles, California hosts the bash.
