The co-main event for UFC 150 is set as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will take on Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard. UFC officials confirmed the lightweight match-up on Saturday.
Cerrone (18-4) campaigned for a fight at UFC 150 when he tweeted, “Well I sure wish someone would step up for Denver”. The next day Guillard (30-10-2) would tweet the news…
Tweet this:I’m fighting @UFC 150 August 11… Its fight of the night @young__assassin vs cowboy, get your tix now Denver!!
— Melvin Guillard (@Young__Assassin) July 13, 2012
Cerrone has won seven of his past eight bouts. He is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FUEL TV 3. The Jackson MMA trained fighter has recorded 13 of his career wins by submission. Guillard just put an end to a two fight skid with a unanimous decision win over Fabricio Camoes last week at UFC 148. The hard-hitting Guillard has notched 19 of his career wins by knockout.
UFC 150 takes place from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on August 11th. The main event of the fight card features lightweight champion Ben Henderson defending his title in a rematch with former champion Frankie Edgar.
