EA Sports partners with Zuffa for production of UFC video games

EA Sports, easily the world’s top developer of sports-oriented video games, has joined forces with Zuffa to begin creating UFC titles under the company’s brand. The UFC had previously had an agreement with THQ spawning the Undisputed series, while EA Sports released a MMA game in 2010 featuring a number of fighters from Strikeforce and overseas.

“There’s no one better at creating authentic sports videogames than EA Sports, and we’re excited to have a partner who shares our vision of deep, connected and multi-platform global game experiences,” said UFC President Dana White in an official statement to media.

“UFC has become a global powerhouse because they have the world’s best fighters, competing in the world’s best mixed martial arts events,” added EA Sports executive Andrew Wilson. “We share UFC’s passion for the sport, and we look forward to capturing all of the intensity and excitement of the action with unique new game experiences across a range of platforms.”

The deal is stated to be of the “multi-year, multi-product” variety. No word was mentioned in terms of when the first edition of EA Sports UFC will drop.
