Lineup for Invicta FC 2 features solid scraps between veteran competitors

Invicta FC has released the card for its second event, set to be held July 28th in Kansas City. As revealed at the first Invicta event in April, the main event pits Olympic medaling wrestler Sara McMann against the returning Shayna Baszler, as well as the expected professional debut of Jocelyn Lybarger.  The rest of the card was made official in an announcement made earlier today.  In addition to Lybarger, four other fighters make their professional debuts on the night’s preliminary card.

Other notable match-ups include Liz Carmouche-Kaitlyn Young and Hitomi Akano-Alexis Davis.

Invicta Kicks Things Off in Style with Exciting Debut

Here are a look at a few of the featured fights followed by the entire card:

Shayna Baszler vs. Sara McMann

In the night’s main event, Baszler returns to the cage after more than 18 months away to face McMann.  Baszler holds one of the best submission finish efficiency rates in MMA history, obtaining 93% of her victories by first round submission.  McMann has quickly risen to the front of the women’s bantamweight pack, racking up five quick victories in her 12 month career.

Alexis Davis vs. Hitomi Akano

In the night’s co-main, the explosive Davis faces the veteran Akano.  Davis and Akano are both accomplished grapplers who have competed hard against some of the biggest names in the sport.  Davis is one of only two fighters to take Baszler the distance, while Akano has tangled with the likes of Miesha Tate, Cristiane Santos and Hiroko Yamanaka.  Their combined 29 career victories include 19 submissions.

Liz Carmouche vs. Kaitlyn Young

In what’s sure to be a hard-hitting affair, Carmouche and Young return to the Invicta cage.  Carmouche finished Ashleigh Curry inside of two minutes at the first event, while Young drew at Leslie Smith.  After a lengthy skid which saw Young go winless for four years, she has posted two wins and a draw since ending the drought last November, and the Smith bout showcased her technical striking en route to a classic Fight of the Night performance.  Young and Carmouche bring a combined ten TKO victories into the cage, and one will surely be gunning for their next one.

Amanda Nunes vs. Milana Dudieva
Kelly Kobold vs. Vanessa Porto
Barb Honchak vs. Bethany Marshall
Julia Budd vs. Elina Nilsson
Carla Esparza vs. Sarah Schneider
Angelica Chavez vs. Kikuyo Ishikawa
Sarah Moras vs. Raquel Pennington
Jessamyn Duke vs. Susie Montero
Jocelyn Lybarger vs. Cheryl Chan
Jessica Philippus vs. Liz McCarthy

Tickets are available for the event starting Friday, June 1st.  Broadcast plans are to follow.  Invicta FC 2 takes place on July 28th from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
