Jeremy Stephens scheduled to face Yves Edwards in October

It looks like two of the lightweight division’s top stand-up artists have agreed to face off in the coming months after a bout between Yves Edwards and Jeremy Stephens was linked to UFC on FX 5 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Edwards has fifteen TKOs to his credit, while Stephens has earned 14 of his 20 total victories by way of strikes.

The October 5 event is headlined by heavyweights Travis Browne-Antonio Silva and also features match-ups including Diego Nunes-Bart Palaszewski, Phil Davis-Wagner Prado, and Mike Pierce-Aaron Simpson.

MMAWeekly was first to report the bout between Stephens-Edwards.

Stephens is coming off back-to-back losses after picking up four wins in his previous five fights. Dubbed “Lil Heathen” based on his aggression and in-ring style, the 26-year old Stephens holds an overall record of 20-6 including success against the likes of Marcus Davis, Sam Stout, and Cole Miller.

A sixty-scrap veteran, Edwards has also struggled to find victory as of late with stumbles in two of his last three tilts. However, the winner of 41 fights has finished 32 of the foes he’s felled and is one of the most experienced competitors on the UFC’s roster.
