Diego Sanchez making move back to lightweight division for next bout

In all the hubbub this past weekend for UFC on FOX 4 it seems an important nugget of information slipped past the MMA world without much notice, as it appears Diego Sanchez has officially decided to return to the lightweight division after toying with the idea for a few months.

The original Ultimate Fighter winner confirmed the news on Twitter where he also expressed his desire to be booked in a five-round rumble based on the difficulty of getting down to 155 pounds.

Sanchez Wants to Scrap with Anthony Pettis

Sanchez most recently fought as a welterweight where he went 2-1 in his last three fights including wins over Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann. However, he made a run at the lightweight title in 2009 after beating Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida only to come up short against champion BJ Penn.

Unfortunately, however, it looks like Sanchez won’t by taking to the Octagon for a few more months while recovering from shoulder surgery.
