Former WWE champ Dave Bautista headed for MMA debut on October 6

David Bautista may have made a name for himself as one of the premier members of the WWE roster during his highly successful run in the organization but it appears his next athletic endeavor will involve actual violence rather than scripted stunts. Bautista, who wrestled as “Batista”, was recently confirmed to be making his MMA debut on October 6 at CES: Real Pain in Providence, Rhode Island.

The former WWE champion will face Rashid Evans at the event, a newcomer in his own right with a 1-2 record professionally. A bout between UFC veteran David Louiseau and Mike Campbell is also scheduled for the show.

Bautista labeled the opportunity as a “dream come true” in an official statement from the organization.

“CES treats me like family and I can’t wait to make my debut with them. MMA has been my lifelong dream and I’m glad to be able to do it with them on the East Coast,” explained the 43-year old.

In addition to the cage, Bautista can also be seen dishing out punishment in a theatre later this year as part of the cast for The Man with the Iron Fists. The film is directed by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA, stars Russell Crowe, and was produced by Quinton Tarantino.
