Ronda Rousey says sex helps performance inside the cage

Before the start of a fight, famed referee “Big” John McCarthy is known for telling the competitors to “get it on”. However, Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey was recently asked about a different type of activity associated with the phrase in relation to how it affects her ability to Armbar adversaries inside the cage and left more than a few jaws dropped with her response.

The topic came up while Rousey stopped by the Conan show where host Conan O’Brien inquired as to whether or not sex was prohibited during the final build towards a fight based on how it affects an individual’s physiology. Surprisingly, she not only said it was okay but encouraged.

“It’s actually the opposite for women. If you have sex it raises your testosterone. So it kind of sucks I don’t have a boyfriend right now,” Rousey joked, saying her Twitter account would undoubtedly be full of volunteers after the episode aired. “I don’t know the exact science behind it. Maybe it was a pick-up line or something I heard before.”

“It at least would help your confidence I think,” she added with a smile.
