A flyweight clash between Ultimate Fighter winner John “The Magician” Dodson and former Shooto champion Jussier “Formiga” da Silva is set for UFC on FX 5. The news was originally reported by Brazilian site Tatame.com on Monday.
Da Silva (14-1) will be making his UFC debut with a five fight winning streak with four of his victories coming by submission. He last competed at Shooto – Brazil 31 where he recorded a first round submission win over Sidney Oliveira. The only loss on Da Silva’s record is to current UFC flyweight Ian McCall.
Dodson (13-5) was the bantamweight winner of Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter. He defeated T.J. Dillashaw by technical knockout in the first round of the show’s finale. In his most recent outing, Dodson won a unanimous decision in a tough scrap with Tim Elliott at UFC on Fox 3.
UFC on FX 5 takes place on October 5th from the Target Center in Minneapolis. The event is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Travis Browne and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
