John Alessio axed by the UFC

It turns out the third time was not the charm for lightweight John Alessio who has received his release from the UFC after two previous failed runs under the organization’s banner. Alessio dropped both of his recent appearances inside the Octagon by way of decision, losing to Mark Bocek and Shane Roller respectively.

Word of Alessio’s status surfaced on his Twitter account where the 33-year old wrote, “My UFC employment has been terminated. Very upset!! Now what?? I tried so hard to be entertaining that I forgot to just win. This sucks!!”

Alessio had won three in a row and ten of his last eleven before signing with the UFC earlier this year. Given some of his other success, chances are Alessio won’t be out of a job for long, holding an overall record of 34-16 with 25 finishes.
