Junior dos Santos Wants Alistair Overeem Next, Thinks He’s a ‘Punk’

Breaking News: UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos (Pictured), AKA Mr. Nice Guy, has actually uttered some not so nice words. According to UFC president Dana White, dos Santos is requesting a fight against that “punk” Alistair Overeem.

“I sat down with Junior dos Santos yesterday, who is the nicest guy in the world,” White said following Saturday’s press conference. “Seriously, we’ve all talked to Junior, he’s the nicest guy in the world, but he said, ‘I have nothing but respect for Cain Velasquez. I like him as a person and as a fighter, and I think he deserves the shot at the title. But I do not want to fight him,’ which is not what he said a month ago.

“He said, ‘Alistair Overeem is a punk. He’s got a big mouth, and he’s been saying lots of bad things about me, and I want to knock him out. I want to knock him out now.’”

The 265-pounders were expected to collide at UFC 146, but Overeem was forced out of the shootout after registering more than twice the legal limit of testosterone in his system. He was issued a nine-month ban and is eligible to reapply for licensing as early as December 27th.

Meanwhile, dos Santos went on to steamroll replacement Frank Mir instead. Velasquez is believed to have earned next dibs at the crown when he trounced Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. However, there might be a change of plans given dos Santos’ uncharacteristic call out.

“He wants the fight,” White said of 2Santos facing Overeem. “I’m not saying that’s what’s happening. I’m just saying to you that’s what he’s saying. He wants this fight.

“They were blowing me up. They wanted to meet with me. We went to lunch yesterday and he just went off on what a punk he thinks Alistair Overeem is and how bad he wants to knock him out.”

Overeem recently claimed dos Santos was “scared” to fight him because the Brazilian claimed the kickboxer shouldn’t regain his top contender moniker following his testosterone ban. “Cigano” later laughed at the notion that he was scared, homie.

With Overeem scheduled to come off suspension in December, the timing would be just right for the heavyweights to headline the UFC’s blockbuster New Year’s weekend extravaganza.
